Mumm-Ra’s got himself four generals now: Slithe, Kaynar, Addicus and now Vultaire. This time, Panthro agrees with the strategy. Pumyra’s being as bossy as ever, suggesting she and Lion-O go to guard the tech stone. Lion-O tries to rally a defense within the city, as some of the other Thundercats recover and join the fight. Snarf runs away and gets stuck in a pipe. ![]() With Tygra down and Vultaire defected, the air defense fails. Vultaire shoots Tygra’s flier down to the city deck. Remember when Vultaire said he believed the enemy of his enemy was his friend? Yeah, Mumm-Ra’s his new friend. Tygra’s ready to give Mumm-Ra their answer, with a missile, but he’s not the only one with a target lock. Mumm-Ra sends a video announcement to the citizens of Avista, suggesting they can join him or die. Mumm-Ra is able to draw the others in and use magical attacks to take out opposing fliers. The remaining Thundercats defend with deck cannons from below.Īpparently no Avistans have battle experience – even Vultaire’s admits he’s only seen combat in simulations – so the few Cats really are the strongest force defending the city. And, apparently, Mumm-Ra’s Stormcharger also flies, and he joins the attack on Avista. Then, maybe Vultaire’s just rattled because Tygra took his Sky Cutter. Tygra’s improvisation is somewhat more successful than Vultaire’s strict formations. Vultaire and Tygra lead the air defense in a sci-fi dogfight, while Lion-O and the others defend the city. Pumyra says it doesn’t matter, now, the power stone is the important thing. He doesn’t have the Book of Omens to follow. Meanwhile, the kittens are going around to all the people Lion-O helped asking if they can help Lion-O, now.Īs the Lizard Army approaches in flying vehicles, Tygra questions how Mumm-Ra found them. There’s time enough for Pumyra to apologize for her brashness and swear, “I serve my King, and Master.” The enemy of my enemy is my friend, Vultaire says. Suddenly alarms sound, lights flash, and a guard rushes in likes he’s got a message from the governor saying a fleet is approaching the city. This episode starts with the Cats being thrown in the trash ejector, it’s like Star Wars meets the end of Toy Story 3, with just as bad a smell. Last episode ended with Wilykat and Wilykit off looking for help, while the rest of the Thundercats were ordered thrown from the city. To me, that makes these a bargain.įor a full selection of Mezco products, be sure to check out Kapow Toy’s website.Avista City: Just like Atlantis, only Bespin. You’re essentially getting a semi-posable vinyl statue for about 1/6th of the price of your average (and very breakable) resin statue. They’re intended as display pieces, as opposed to toys, and as long as you’re cool with that going in, these are gravy. They’ve hidden the articulation in such a way that Panthro in particular is unstable, and while you can always make him look damn cool, it can limit the poses (hence me unwittingly recreating the promo photo pose above). ![]() In the interest of fairness, I should point out that the placement of articulation on all of these toys makes for a really clean full bodied animation look, but at the expense of ease of posing. Watch this space for a Tygra review coming soon, and group shots too! I haven’t received my Tygra yet so console yourself with this excellent promo material, and the fact you can get yours here, right now. I’ll be honest, as a kid I never picked up on the fact he was a kid, but I don’t think I ever saw the pilot. The leader of the Thundercats, as a juvenile trapped in the body of a man, Lion-O took the burden of leadership in what should have been the ultimate coming-of-age story. Standing 14″ tall, these mega-figures are, for me, the perfect rendition of the on-screen character models. As such, I’ve never collected the original toys, but I’ve been holding out for some excellent renditions of the classic characters.Įnter Mezco. I’m not a huge collector of Thundercats by any means, I enjoyed the Marvel UK comics, and the more recent Wildstorm comics at the time, but I think I’m one of those people that liked the concept and designs more than the actual show itself. ![]() If only the rest of the 20 minutes could have kept up that pace and animation quality. In fact, for me Thundercats definitely takes the price for best opening sequence of an eighties cartoon. THUNDER, THUNDER, THUNDERCATS… oh, you’re nearly all here!Īs much as we all love Transformers, it wasn’t the only show on in the eighties.
